For our guests who wish the very best, the Grand Canyon area provides wonderful opportunities.
High on the list is a Canyon Dave guided vacation, enjoyed by thousands since 2002. Your party will
enjoy the congenial company of our university-educated guides and tour directors.
Canyon Dave Tours, Inc. has researched the best the region has to offer. We are able to offer 5-star accommodations for your entire visit, be it a couple nights or a week or more. You will be surprised and delighted with the best restaurants and activities in the area. Yet your deepest memories of the vacation might be a quiet conversation below a towering red cliff on a breezy afternoon.
We work closely with the finest resorts to provide lodging and comfort, while daily helicopter connections waft you to the Grand Canyon, Sedona, or any of the region's many parks.
Your activities can include a luxury watercraft tour on Lake Powell to Rainbow Bridge with your own chef on board and water toys for the kids. You can take a hot-air balloon ride, a railway in a secluded and scenic canyon, jet flights from Phoenix or Las Vegas, and so many other amenities.
We have below a suggestion for a one week vacation that will please the discriminating traveler. Depending on which of the activities you choose, the vacation can run 10-20M per person for a week. This is just one of many possible tours.
This is your flight arrival day. Your Canyon Dave tour begins with a helicopter flight from Phoenix to Sedona and transfers to the Enchantment Resort for greeting and tour overview by your guides. Depending on your arrival time, we might have an afternoon private van tour of the Sedona red-rocks area or a Boynton Canyon hike from the resort.
Today we have an early-morning hot-air balloon ride over the Sedona red-rocks. Next is an educational and scenic van tour of the greater Sedona area, including the charming ‘ghost town’ of Jerome and an ancient Sinagua Indian village. After some relaxing time, in the evening (5-9 PM) we will ride the Verde Canyon Railway for very beautiful views of the Verde River canyon on their starlight train ride.
This morning we have a helicopter ride to Grand Canyon. We begin an all-day van tour of the South Rim and the gorgeous Navajo Indian Reservation. Here we will visit a secret petrified wood site, where Mississippi-sized rivers brought gigantic logs, now turned to stone. Lunch is at the lovely, ethnic Cameron Trading Post, where we can try Navajo dishes or opt for American or kids meals. In the afternoon, we arrive at the Amangiri Resort for a 4-night stay.
Today we have a special boat trip on Lake Powell, transferring to a houseboat with our own chef to cater. We will visit the largest natural bridge in the world, Rainbow Bridge, an easy one-mile hike from the boat. The lake vistas are beautiful and accessible, with many places for exploring lakeside ‘slick-rock’ and narrow slot canyons. We will have water toys on board for the kids (big and little).
This day is planned as relaxation time, especially for the adults to enjoy their spa package and the resort amenities. But the guides are available for entertaining (and educating) any kids (and/or adults), perhaps with a walk and climb up a nearby mountain. Optionally, we can take a Navajo-guided 4-hour tour of the marvelous Antelope Canyon.
This is your day on the Colorado River, taking a flat-water rafting trip. We will see towering cliffs of red and white sandstone. Lunch is along the way, with a stop at ancient Indian paintings on the rocks.
Back to Phoenix and the end of an unforgettable week!
